One of the many reasons why I love Halloween and October is the chance to dress up! If you're lucky, as I was this October, you might get more than one opportunity (or even five!) I DIYed all of these costumes, so figure they belong on this blog, too! Here they are in order of my preference:
1. NYCC The Joker - Rule 63
Jacket and shirt from Goodwill, pants from Forever 21(cheap enough that I didn't mind ripping them up), gloves, wallet chain, belt, boots

2. Ventriloquist Doll
This got thrown together last minute as a way to psyche myself up to go out on Halloween night. Totally worked, plus had the added benefit of freaking people out on the bus. The most difficult part was the make-up, the rest was basically a comfy dress, leggings, and boots.

3. NYCC Jayne Cobb - Rule 63
So maybe I like gender-bending when I cosplay, ok! This one was also pretty fun and easy. Khaki shorts from the Goodwill (Because ugh, I would not otherwise own these!), ripped up tights, hiking boots, shirt special-ordered for the occasion, cunning hat lovingly knitted by my aforementioned yarn-slinging sister.

4. NYCC Starfleet Officer
Made this dress for last Halloween out of an XXL red turtleneck shirt. Ordered the patch online. Piece of cake and super easy to dress up, with black tights and boots. One of the highlights of my trip to NYCC was the last day when I wore this dress and ran into a bunch of other StarTrek cosplayers.

5. Cruella DeVille
Last, but not least (though I wish I had a better photo) was the Cruella outfit I put together for the early Halloween party the boyfriend and I threw. I had the dress and the shoes, I found the coat at Goodwill for $35. I meant to get an actual cigarette holder, but forgot, and ended up using a black straw with a piece of rolled paper in the end. You can't see this very well in the picture, but I also sprayed my hair half white and half black. It looked much better in person, I swear!
