A bit about me. Hmm.
I grew up traveling the world. I studied Astrophysics in Boston. I spent 2 years in Liberia with the Peace Corps. Now, back in Boston; I work, play, and craft hard. I do what I like, and mostly, I like what I do.
Teach yourself to make things with your own hands. It's immensely satisfying. Every gift you make is 100 times more precious, and not in the way your macaroni necklace was to your mom when you were 4. Thoughtful projects that are customized for their recipient are guaranteed to receive an "Aw, yeah!" rather than a "Gee, thanks..."
Spoil yourself. DIY is cheap and fun and the first time you get to say "Thanks, I made it" will hook you for life.
It's eeeasy, don't sweat it. Start with the simple tutorials and work your way up as you accumulate materials and skills. Nobody turned out a ballgown the first time they sat down at a sewing machine. Every major crafter has a couple of FUBARs shoved in the back of a yarn drawer somewhere.
