So my sister and I made a deal. She is a fabulous knitter of all things under the sun (and you should check out her knitting blog here) and agreed to knit me this beautiful pair of socks in exchange for my crafting a Halloween costume of her choice.
She chose Rapunzel from the Disney movie Tangled.
So, after all my events in October (NYComicCon, for example) I was not exactly on top of this project a mere two weeks before Halloween. Luckily, I found a pretty good dress at Goodwill to start me off:
One of the frustrating things about being a crafter in Boston with no car is that there are NO easily accessible fabric stores. (That I know of. Think I'm wrong? Let a girl know!) So I ended up using the body of a pink men's button-down (left over from a previous project) to construct the vest:
After finishing the vest, I added ribbon stripes to the sleeves and painted the design around the hem with pink and purple fabric paint (and I wish I had taken better photos of this part). And, of course, who is Rapunzel without her little chameleon, Pascal?
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, although I wish I could have fit it a little better. She lives in a different state, though, so fittings weren't exactly an option.
Anyways... Frying pans. Who knew?
